Welcome
Welcome to the website of the European
Council for Cardiovascular Research (ECCR). The
ECCR was established in 1997 to create within
Europe a unique forum for clinical and
non-clinical researchers in the important field
of blood pressure and cardiovascular research.
The ECCR is a member of the
Council for Basic Cardiovascular Science
of the European Society of Cardiology,
whose aims are to enhance the importance of
basic science to clinical cardiology and to act
as a Europe wide forum for cardiovascular
research societies and a conduit for positive
collaboration.
The annual conference held in October covers a
broad range of subjects, including genetics of
cardiovascular diseases, vascular biology,
cardiac and renal aspects as well as modern
strategies of prevention and therapy in
cardiovascular disease.
This highly dynamic field is characterized by
the rapid accumulation of new information that
contributes to our understanding of the
aetiology and pathophysiology of cardiovascular
disease processes as well as to the development
of better therapeutic strategies.
Particular emphasis is put on the participation
of both basic scientists and clinicians to
foster the transmission of new scientific
findings into clinical practice. Besides
including invited keynote lectures, free oral
presentations, workshops and hot topic sessions,
the programme provides ample time for discussion
both within and outside the scientific sessions.
Member societies of
the CBCS do not usually hold their own
conferences in the same year as a FCVB
conference. Accordingly, the ECCR will not hold
its own meeting in 2012, the next meeting being
scheduled for October 2013 in Nice.
In 2012, the ECCR will have two major
activities:
(1) Contribution to Frontiers in Cardiovascular
Biology (FCVB), London, March 2012.
(2) Contribution to 24th Meeting of the
International Society of Hypertension (ISH), 29
Sept - 4 Oct 2012.
Further information is available on our
Annual Meeting page.
